Sewing Camp

We have just about finished up our first week of sewing camp.  The projects were flying.  Bags, pin cushions, knitting, doll clothes, matching shorts or skirts for the girls.  It was busy and productive.  Filled with motivated girls who like to make things.  We don't advertise for just girls it just happened to be who signed up this session.  However, we got Eli out there.  When he wasn't entertaining the girls he even did a little sewing himself.

Coast Ways

In between days in the garden we had a great getaway down the coast.  Lots of exploring.  From the coast to a waterfall in the hills.  Fog and sun.  Campfires and fire roasted food.  Rock collecting and bows and arrows made out of kelp.  Migrating whales swimming in a huge pod.
A much enjoyed getaway!

Planting Corn

We are feeling the rush to plant the garden.  It is hot here and the soil is resembling the dust bowl a bit.  Out with the cabbages and bolting lettuce and in with the corn and cucumbers and quick.....Eli loves to plant corn so we're trying two varieties, yellow and white.  He likes to plant them in a square so there is room in the middle for him to sit in.  He found a little seed that he planted in its own spot.  It had just started to sprout.  He thought that was pretty cool.

Picking Salad

When out picking some lettuce for a salad Eli got inspired to make his own, sit right down and eat it.  Straight from the plants to the dish.   So delicious and a good way to bring in the summer.  He found some lettuce, a few strawberries, carrots and nasturiums.  These days he likes to eat his salad topped with a little olive oil and maybe a bit of vinegar.  I like his style!
